How to Get a PIN for GIL

Why do you need a PIN number? With it, you can:

  • Order GIL Express books and renew them
  • Renew Middle Georgia State Univerisity library books
  • Get the GALILEO password
  • Check due dates of materials you've checked out
  • Check Library fines and fees

How to get a PIN number:


  1. From the GIL-Find homepage, click on "Access my GIL Account to"
  2. Enter your Institution ID (student ID number)
  3. Enter your last name
  4. Click "Get My PIN"

Your PIN will be emailed to your MGA email address.

Log-In Info for Library Resources

Your user name and password for Library resources, including databases and ebooks, is your MGA email User Name and Password:

User name: firstname.lastname

Example: John Smith would be john.smith

Password : Current email password

If this login doesn’t work, make sure you have activated your MGA Network Account.


Do I Need the GALILEO Password?

When you access GALILEO or individual databases through links from the Library's web pages, you will generally use your MGA email username and password:

  • firstname.lastname
  • Email password

In most cases, you will NOT need the GALILEO password. However, if you do, use one of the following resources to find it:


  1. Log in to D2L as usual.
  2. The GALILEO password is displayed on the opening page.


  1. From the GIL-Find homepage, click on "Get GALILEO password"
  2. Enter your Institution ID (student ID number), last name, and PIN number
    • (see "How to Get a PIN for GIL" on left of page)
  3. Click Login
