June 13:  The United States Post Office announces that parents cannot send their children in the mail after a number of instances of them doing so.

On August 18, after receiving a letter from his mother telling him to "be a good boy" and ratify the 19th amendment, 22-year old Tennessee Representative Harry T. Burn becomes the deciding vote in the ratification of the 19th amendment giving women the right to vote.
