Search Google Scholar

What is Google Scholar?
Google Scholar is a subset of Google Web Search that enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including journal articles, papers, theses, books, and reports.
Why should I access Google Scholar from the library’s website?
By searching Google Scholar from the Library’s web page when you are on campus, your result list will show which results are available in the Library's online resources and give you links to them. On campus, you will have direct access to subscription articles already paid for through the library.
What about off campus?
Away from campus, if you want the MGA Library resources to show up in your results, from the Google Scholar page, click on Settings / Library Links and select Middle Georgia State University - View It @ Middle Georgia. (See screenshot below.)
Also, off campus, to open a View It @ Middle Georgia article from the results, log in as you would to any other library database.
Can I access Google Scholar directly?
If you prefer to search Google Scholar directly from Google's products, when you reach the Google Scholar page, click on Settings / Library Links and select Middle Georgia State University - View It @ Middle Georgia.
What should I do if I’m asked to pay for the full text?
Google Scholar often links to versions of papers and articles on commercial publisher websites. These sites may ask you to buy a subscription or pay to access an article. Do not pay for articles! Look for the Middle Georgia State links, View It @ Middle Georgia. The Middle Georgia State Library already provides access to many of the journal articles indexed in Google Scholar.
What should I do if the full text is not available?
Any time you have trouble accessing full text (or have any question), ask us for help. Middle Georgia State Library also provides access to materials not owned by or available through MGA through the Interlibrary Loan service.
