The purpose of the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) service is to provide access to materials that are not found in the Middle Georgia State University Library or through GIL Express. These include articles, book chapters, and print copies of books. Please note: electronic books and textbooks cannot be ordered through interlibrary loan. Current Middle Georgia State University faculty, staff, and students, as well as retired faculty, may use this service.

Electronic items can take up to a week or more to arrive. Book chapters can be ordered as well using the book request form. Articles will be sent to the patron’s email as a PDF attachment.

Undergraduate students may request up to 25 books at any one time through interlibrary loan. Masters students may request up to 40 books and Doctoral students my request up to 60 at any one time. Books usually take from 1 to 2 weeks (sometimes more) to arrive and the loan period and renewals are determined by the lending institution. Patrons will be notified through campus email when their books can be picked up at the service desk. To renew a book, patrons should contact the Interlibrary Loan office on their MGA campus to ask if a renewal is possible.
Book chapters can also be ordered and will be sent to the patron’s email as a PDF attachment.
