EBSCO eBooks on a BN Nook Device

EBOOKS ON EBSCOhost TO BN NOOK

NOTE: You must save the file to an intermediate device (desktop or laptop PC) which has the Adobe Digital Editions (and free Adobe ID) software installed in order to convert to the device-readable digital file format. You will need to create an Adobe ID to use when accessing this program. This program is free and can be downloaded online. This file format, once converted, includes all the security code that allows the "authorized user" to access the content for the desired time (usually 7 or 14 days) after which the content is no longer accessible.

1.) find item in GIL

2.) click on link in item record

3.) page redirects to EBSCOhost and item opens

4.) click "download" and choose a check-out period.

· When prompted, sign in to My EBSCOhost. (NOTE: If you have not set up an EBSCO account, you must do this first.)

5.) pop-up window gives option to Open or Save the book. If you click on Open, it will open the book in Adobe Digital Editions.

6.) When the e-reader device is connected to the PC with the reader device's USB cable, an icon for the device should appear in the "bookshelves" section of Adobe Digital Editions. Select the title you want to transfer to the device, drag and drop to the device name in the left "Bookshelves" column. There should be a red plus sign that changes to green when it is OK to transfer.

7.) Congratulations! You have downloaded an e-book from the library collection to your portable e-reader. The file should now be available on either your PC or e-reader.

NOTE: Before unplugging your device, for the safety of your files, please choose to eject the device before unplugging your USB cord from the computer. You can do this by right clicking on the icon on the bottom right hand side of your computer 's taskbar that looks like a USB drive, and choosing "eject." You can also do this by opening up "My Computer" and then right clicking on the icon that looks like a USB drive. It will give you the same options to "eject" or safely remove the device. You must unplug your device from the USB/computer before you will see the ebook on your device.
