What are eBooks on EBSCO?

eBooks at EBSCOhost, formerly known as NetLibrary, provides access to electronic books (eBooks), including reference books, scholarly monographs, publications of many university presses, and consumer books that have been converted into digital format. It is possible to perform full-text searches of a single eBook, search thousands of volumes simultaneously, browse topic categories, or read eBooks directly online.

Users can create a My EBSCOhost account in order to use personalization tools, such as creating lists of favorite ebooks in the My EBSCOhost folder.

Users can choose to view the titles online, or they may download and check out the book for a period of time. Many titles are limited to one user at a time; see the Why can't I view this ebook? FAQ for more information.

Some GALILEO institutions may also purchase individual eBooks and audiobooks titles separate from these collections. Please consult a librarian at your home institution to learn which collections and titles are available at your institution.

eBook K-8 Collection (EBSCO)
Contains nearly 11,000 titles chosen to support a quality learning experience for K-8 students across all subject areas taught in elementary and middle schools, and content aligns with Common Core Curriculum Standards.
eBook Public Library Collection (EBSCO)
collection of nearly 41,000 titles chosen specifically for public libraries, this general reference collection features fiction titles for both adults and juveniles, as well as best-selling and highly-recommended titles from industry leading publishers.

How to View your eBooks

How do I view EBSCO eBooks on my computer? EBSCO eBooks databases can be viewed online or downloaded onto PCs, Macs, Chromebooks, iPhone/iPad, Android, and other devices. To use features in an EBSCOhost database (including eBooks at EBSCOhost), the minimum browser requirements are Internet Explorer 7.0, Firefox 3.0, and Safari 3.0 (for Mac). You also must have Adobe Reader installed to view the PDF full-text files. EBSCO recommends Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8.2 or later. Download Adobe Reader at the Adobe site. For iPad and iPhone users, the Blue Fire reader app is recommended. EBSCO offers this useful guide with detailed information about how to use EBSCO eBooks. How do I view ebooks on my mobile device? All GALILEO users have access to ebooks through ProQuest’s Ebook Central and EBSCO eBooks. In addition to viewing online, users may also download ebooks onto their mobile device for offline viewing. You can download both Ebook Central and EBSCO eBook titles using the Bluefire Reader app. We have created guides that walk you through how to do this.
