Project Management

A structured guide highlighting resources to help complete the assignments associated with Project Management courses at Middle Georgia State University.

Module Four

Purpose:

The purpose of this assignment is first to analyze how a Gantt chart or (work breakdown chart) in a project charter can be effective in project management.

Students will:

  • Analyze how implementing project management tools and plans can contribute to reducing IT risk, cost analysis, or failure.
  • Evaluate project management leadership styles and critique their effectiveness through case studies.

Tasks

  • Explain what Gantt charts and work breakdown schedules are about information technology in your introduction.
  • Research a journal article (Case Study) in the library on an organization with an IT project, Gantt charts, or work breakdown schedules of interest.
  • Consider how Gantt charts or work breakdown schedules influenced the project's scope.
  • Analyze through research (the case study) how the organization's charter or a knowledge area may have led to the project's success or failure using Gantt charts or work breakdown schedules.
  • In your conclusion, describe a further suggestion (thought) about how one of the 10 knowledge areas is influenced by using Gantt charts and work breakdown schedules.  Students–in this assignment–can utilize firsthand project knowledge (if they can cite a white paper or organization's project openly).
